Your vacation shouldn’t be built around a generic idea of what you might want. It needs to center around you. What matters most about this trip? How do you like to travel? What are you excited about? What would make you come home and say ‘that trip was amazing’? The answers to those questions should guide the trip’s design.
Something can look great online and technically work and still be wrong for the vacation you’re imagining. What’s important is understanding the differences, why they matter, and why certain options make more sense for you. When you’re investing your money and vacation time into a trip, you want to be confident in your decisions before you leave home.
Hi, I’m Kate. I’m the travel advisor behind Storied Tides, and I specialize in cruises and cruise-and-land journeys. I believe in doing things the right way — carefully, thoroughly, properly — and I’m unapologetically Type A about it.
I learned firsthand why fit matters on a Christmas cruise with my kids and their friends. Trying to save money, I booked five of us into one interior cabin.
Could five people technically sleep there? Absolutely. Should five people sleep there? I have thoughts. We spent the week climbing over luggage, each other, and whoever was trying to reach our one tiny bathroom. Nothing was wrong with the cabin, but it wasn’t right for the vacation I had envisioned.
My job is to help you understand those kinds of mismatches before we book. I’ll also treat your travel budget the way I would want someone to treat mine by focusing your money where it can have the biggest impact on your experience. And if I think something you’re considering is a bad idea or if there’s a better option, I’ll tell you why.
Once we’ve decided on the right trip, I take care of bringing it all together — flights, hotels, transfers, excursions, timing, and everything in between — so you’re not left to manage the details. And my support continues while you’re traveling, so if something goes sideways, I’m there to help.
Why Storied Tides?
Growing up, some of my favorite vacations were the ones where my family met up with cousins in the Finger Lakes or the Thousand Islands. We went back to the same places most years, but the trips never felt the same because of the people we were with and the things we did together. When I had children of my own, I wanted to create those same kinds of experiences for them — trips we could laugh about later and remember for years.
That same idea inspired me to create Storied Tides to help others come home with stories they’ll tell long after the vacation is over. I can’t write the stories for you, but I can design the kind of trip where those stories happen.
That’s what Journeys Worth Sharing means to me.
